Fantasy basketball games are often won by one outstanding player. That’s why we spend so much time agonizing over the first and second round in the fantasy draft. It’s rare that an elite player misses those early rounds but this year James Harden managed to slip through the cracks. The Houston shooting guard has been one of the biggest surprises of the season in fantasy basketball games but even he has off nights like the game against the Timberwolves recently. Harden still scored 18 points but he missed all seven of his shots from beyond the arc and managed to only complete seven assists. Harden actually only hit five of his 18 attempts from the floor during the game. He still managed to put up respectable stats in other fantasy categories though and this game should be thought of as just a fluke. No need to worry about him long term.

There may be a reason to worry about Ricky Rubio though. The Spanish star has been downright bad this season and this game was no different. He scraped together seven points and six assists but that was about it. Rubio has had many chances to be a great player in fantasy basketball games but he just can’t seem to put it all together and it may be time to move on from the once promising young player. In fact there’s really only one good player in fantasy basketball games who wears a Minnesota jersey at the moment and it’s Andrei Kirilenko. The small forward plays like a power forward and he’ll get you a ton of rebounds if you start him regardless of the circumstances. Kirilenko is also a good scoring threat. He actually led the Wolves with 21 points in this game. He may not be dominant but then again it’s slim pickings for fantasy talent in Minnesota.
